Emerson J. Dillon Middle School students explore careers

Emerson J. Dillon Middle School recently welcomed dozens of professionals from across the region for its annual Career Day event, offering students an opportunity to explore a wide range of career pathways.
The event was coordinated by the EJD Student Services Department and featured representatives from CiTi BOCES, local businesses, government organizations, and various companies who volunteered their time to serve as guest speakers. Throughout the day, presenters shared insights about their chosen fields, conducted hands-on demonstrations, and engaged students in meaningful discussions about future opportunities.
Students rotated through sessions highlighting a variety of careers — from skilled trades and public service to technology, health care, entrepreneurship, and more. The interactive format encouraged students to ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of the skills, education, and experiences needed in different professions.
“We are incredibly thankful everyone who participated in this event,” said school counselor Kathy Barber. “Their willingness to connect with our students helps broaden perspectives and guide them as they begin thinking about their future goals.” Emerson J. Dillon Middle School looks forward to continuing this tradition of career exploration and community engagement in the years ahead.
