Despite the uncertainty surrounding the upcoming school year, I can genuinely say that I am honored and excited to be beginning my first year as the Principal of Emerson J. Dillon Middle School. In my career thus far at Phoenix, I have been astounded by the resiliency and unrelenting engagement of the school community. As we work through the specifics of our return to the school plan, I find comfort in reflecting on my previous experiences with our community. These experiences provide me confidence in our collective ability to triumph over any obstacles we may face.
EJD is a place where both students and staff strive for excellence and work together to foster an environment that promotes student engagement and success. This environment provides a venue in which students are encouraged to reimagine their potential in becoming college and career ready. Given the unpredictability of our current circumstance, I consider myself fortunate that the experience and dedication of our staff will allow EJD to continue to do what is best for our students. While this year may look different than in years past, students will continue to receive first-class support in their growth as learners and young individuals.
While there is no denying that the 2020-2021 school year will require the navigation of many obstacles, I view it as an opportunity for the EJD community to, once again, utilize our passion for teamwork and resiliency so that our students can continue to thrive. I am looking forward to reflecting on this year as one in which the obstacles that we overcame together enhanced the already strong bond between our students, staff, and community.
Sincerely,
