The tragic events and horror that took place yesterday afternoon in Boston have given us images that will be ingrained in our brains forever. At least 3 people dead, victims on stretchers, pandemonium after the blasts, a 78 year old falling to the ground, blood-stained sidewalks, and stories of amputations have filled the news over the last 17 hours.
The unexplainable, senseless acts of violence tug at our hearts. After a tragedy like this, it is natural to reflect on our own situations and question our personal safety and faith in society… …or we can reflect on the less touted stories of the heroes of April 15th. There are the heroes who ran towards the blast zone to help the victims, and heroes who, after running 26 miles, immediately went to the hospital to donate blood to help keep victims alive.
We are happy to have Mrs. Young, our band teacher and Boston marathoner, back home today. Others are not so lucky. If you or someone you know is having difficulty coping with this unexplainable tragedy, please speak with a counselor or teacher so the appropriate support can be provided.
