SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAMS
The Board of Education recognizes that some students require programs of instruction beyond the basic program and that it is the responsibility of the district to provide, to the best of its ability, special programs where the need is recognized.
Students requiring special programs may be identified as:
1. students with special educational needs. These are students (K-12) who are
significantly behind the expected levels of achievement in reading and/or
mathematics; or
2. students with disabilities. These are students who have disabilities as these
conditions are defined by the law and in the Commissioner's Regulations; or
3. students with severe disabilities. These are students who have severe disabilities
as these conditions are defined in the law.
