PART-TIME & SUBSTITUTE PROFESSIONAL STAFF EMPLOYMENT
The Board of Education recognizes that despite the occasional absence of a teacher, the instructional program must continue. The employment of the best available substitute teachers in such cases is called for.
Only substitute teachers who have at least a Bachelor's Degree shall be employed.
The following guidelines will be followed"
1. The basic daily rate for full day substitute service shall be determined by a majority vote of the Board.
2. The basic daily rate for a full day substitute who is employed on a long term basis to replace an incapacitated teacher will receive as a salary an amount equal to 1/200th of the salary stipulated on Step 1 of the Bachelor's schedule for the duration of that teacher's absence. The Superintendent is authorized to determine when such arrangements should be implemented.
3. Substitutes for a full time teacher who teach more than a half day shall receive a full day's pay. Substitutes who teach a half day or less shall receive a half-day's pay.
4. Persons substituting for a part-time teacher will receive the same proportion of a full day's pay as the fraction of a full day normally worked by the absentee.
