PROFESSIONAL STAFF LEAVES & ABSENCES
A former teacher of the district, the abolishment of whose position terminated his/her employment, is entitled to reinstatement if, within a period of six years, a vacancy in a similar position occurs.
A teacher who performs military service as defined and limited in Section 243 of the Military Law and who indicates within 90 days of his/her termination of such duty or during his/her terminal leave, that he/she wishes to return to his/her teaching duties shall be reinstated. One who indicates such a desire after 90 days, but within one year, may be reinstated at the discretion of the Board of Education.
Any other person who has previously taught in the district may be reemployed. Such teacher is regarded as a teacher new to the district and shall not carry forward any fringe benefits accumulated during the previous employment.
