SUPERVISION OF CONSTRUCTION
It is the intent of the Board of Education that a building of the best quality possible is constructed through the preparation of specifications and through adequate supervision during construction.
To this end , the Board shall give serious consideration to the employment of a full-time representative at the construction site. If one is employed, his/her duties and responsibilities will be well-defined and understood by the Board, the Administration, the architect and the contractors.
The Board shall designate one district employee to serve as liaison between the architect and the Board.
It shall be the duty of the architect to work out conflicts between contractors, to iron out difficulties resulting from unclear or misinterpreted specifications, etc. In the interest of orderly and uninterrupted progress of construction, the Board shall discuss, prior to the beginning of construction, procedures by which delays may be minimized. This may take the form of a stated maximum allowance for field directed work approvable by the architect, or some other arrangement understood and accepted by both the Board and the architect.
The architect shall make regular inspection of progress and make reports, at least monthly, to the Board. The architect shall also be responsible for the quality of materials delivered to the site as well as the quality of workmanship in their installation.
